HELP US KEEP HIS LEGACY ALIVE #DOITFORDJ

Artboard 4.png

Derrick L. Berry, Jr., better known as "DJ" was a stellar athlete and overall great kid. Losing DJ was a tragedy to not only his family, but his friends and community. He was a light that shined bright upon everyone he encountered and we want to keep that light shining. Although, DJ was called home, we know that his spirit still lives, so his legacy must continue to live through us. We created #DoItForDJ to inspire, encourage, and help young men like DJ excel in academics, community service and sports.

Help us keep DJ's legacy alive! Donate to the #DoItForDJ Scholarship Fund today.

"You Only Live Once, But If You Do It Right Once Is Enough - DJ Berry

Aunt Jennifer & Uncle Chris

"We're missing you a little more each time we hear your name. We've cried many tears yet our hearts broken the same. We miss our times together, things in common we could share, but nothing fills the emptiness now you're no longer there. We've so many precious memories to last our whole life through, each one of them reminds us of how much we're missing you."

Jayci

"Even though you're gone, you will forever remain with me and in my heart. There are days when I feel like we're far apart but, I know you're here and deep down you will always be my sunshine and light because you were the light of my life. I will forever love you, and there's not a day that goes by where I won't think of you or miss you. I'm thankful for all the memories, laughs, and smiles we shared. I love you, forever and always."

Connor McWilliams

To be called friend by D.J. was one of the greatest honors of my life. To know him, was to love him. While he left this earth too soon, he leaves behind his intensity for life and his contagious laughter. His spirit lives on through me each day.

Sometimes it’s the big things, and sometimes it’s the small things that I grieve.

The big things are tough…our 18th birthdays, our upcoming high school graduation, and planning for our futures.

But the small things, the everyday things, that we share. Like the daily snaps, the never-ending jokes and laughs, the constant upgrades to our trucks, the music, the four-wheeler rides, and the list goes on.

I don’t remember a time when DJ wasn’t by my side. He lived his life to the fullest and for that I am thankful. He left in his wake a heartache that will never be forgotten. He was one of a kind, and I am a better person because of him.

There are so many memories I could share about DJ,

Cousins - Khylaa, Jastin & Latydrick

"It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. A part of us went with you, the day God took you home. If tears could build a stairway, and heartaches make a lane, we would walk our way to heaven, and bring you back again. In life we loved you dearly, in death we loved you still, in our hearts you hold a place no one could ever fill."

Grandparents - Charles & San, Lonnie & Shirley and Mimi Doris

"We think of you in silence, we often speak your name. All we have are memories, and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we will never part. God has you in His keeping, we have you in our hearts."
